چکیده
A young woman presented with left sided chest pain. Chest radiography revealed a hyperexpanded left upper lobe and the rare diagnosis of congenital lobar emphysema was made. She was then found to be pregnant. Thoracotomy and left upper lobectomy were performed during the pregnancy without adverse effects to the mother or fetus. The implications of pregnancy on the surgical management of this rare condition are discussed.

Over the past four years (1360-1364) we have surgically treated seven infants for lobar emphysema. The pathologic lesion in all patients was in upper lobe of the left lung. Respiratory distress and pneumonia are the cardinal symptoms of patients with this abnormality. Diagnosis is confirmed by chest x-ray. The treatment of choice is lobectomy of affected lobe.
متن کاملCongenital Lobar Emphysema; a Case Report Presenting with Respiratory Distress
Congenital lobar emphysema (CLE) is a cause of respiratory distress in newborns and infants. In this study we presented a complicated case of CLE in a 35-day-old infant who was treated successfully with surgical intervention. We reviewed several articles and texts to offer a complete discussion about clinical and paraclinical aspects of this entity. (Tanaffos 2003; 2(5):

Congenital lobar emphysema (CLE) is a rare lung congenital malformation. Differential diagnosis of the disease remains challenging in an infant with acute respiratory distress. We report a case of a 3-week-old female infant with a weight of 2.1 kg who presented respiratory distress related to CLE. Left upper lobectomy was performed and she had an uneventful recovery.
